This year’s Llangollen International Musical Eisteddfod, which takes place 7-12 July 2009, will play host to a glittering array of new and established international stars, joining 4000 competitors from all over the world. Telephone booking now open - call 01978 862001Online booking opens Monday 19th January Multi-million selling recording artist, Barbara Dickson, who recently celebrated 40 years in the music industry, together with chart-topping male quartet Blake, soprano sensation Natasha Marsh, and Jamaican born bass-baritone Sir Willard White are all confirmed.In a new and exciting development this year, 007 comes to Llangollen, when Carl Davis, renowned composer and conductor, directs the music of James Bond with the Welsh National Opera Orchestra, Mary Carewe, and Simon Bowman in our Licensed to Thrill concert. A Bond girl will also make an appearance, Pussy Galore, aka actress Honor Blackman, the host for Sunday 12 of July’s evening concert.This year, for the first time ever, Llangollen will include an extra day of activities on Sunday, bringing the festival to a jam-packed full SIX days of activities Mervyn Cousins, Executive Director, said: “The Eisteddfod is developing and evolving each year, and we have more and more to offer competitors, visitors, and the local community annually. Llangollen is a well-established festival, and for us as organisers, extending the activities on the field on Sunday 12 July is a natural process. Tickets for the Sunday evening Finale will include the ‘Licensed to Thrill’ Music of Bond concert, as well as the day’s events, and also a bonus concert by world-renowned violinist Tasmin Little - plus a firework display to conclude the festival.
