Scrambling in Snowdonia

Scrambling is the art of moving over steeper ground using hands as well as feet.  Scrambling routes range from steep paths which require the occasional steadying hand right up to routes which are almost graded rock climbs.  Many people enjoy scrambling because the interest and excitement make climbing mountains feel like less of an effort than trudging up a path.  There are, however, more complications due to route finding and safely negotiating steeper sections, so it is advisable to start scrambling with an experienced leader.

At Outdoor Horizons we can introduce you to scrambling while taking care of safety and route finding.  Our experienced and qualified mountaineers can lead you up Snowdonia's easier classic scrambles; the accessible North Ridge of Tryfan; the well named Bristly Ridge and the knife edge of Crib Goch on Snowdon.  Try one of these as a great day out in the mountains, or we can organise a course which will combine two or more scrambles with learning mountain skills such as navigation and safe rope-work.

To experience the point where walking becomes mountaineering, contact us to organise your scrambling adventure.
