The nails at the end of the Horseshoe

Usually when I descend the Pyg Track or from Crib Goch it is at the end of a long day, and I tend to charge down the rest of the Pyg Track from Bwlch y Moch. But recently I had a long photographic day on Snowdon. I walked up overnight, to arrive at the summit of Snowdon a little while before dawn. After taking pictures there, I slowly made my way over Crib y Ddysgl  and Crib Goch – slow because I was regularly putting my camera on tripod and waiting for the right moments.

Once at Bwlch y Moch, just half an hour from the car park at Pen y Pass I decided to carry on over the ‘nails at the end of the Horseshoe’ in search of some different viewpoints. It was one of the busiest days of the summer holidays, but I saw not another person in this area. These hills were traditionally climbed at the start of the Horseshoe day, so strictly speaking are the first nails. They are shown on the OS map as the Horns, but I believe the real name of the first hill is Craig Fach. Above and below are a few pictures taken in this area.
