A vibrant series of cultural events across Flintshire is helping attract more visitors to the area. Many have been supported by the Cultural Celebrations project organised by Cadwyn Clwyd, including the Treuddyn Festival and Mold’s Festival of Hope in June and the Llanasa Scarecrow Festival in August. This September will be a bumper month for the arts in Flintshire. These projects have received funding through the Rural Development Plan for Wales 2007-2013 which is funded by the Welsh Assembly Government and the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development Events include: Gwaenysgor Bookish Festival 17-20 September featuring a reading from poet Les Barker and a Verse and Vino event at the Eagle and Child pub (contact: Hilary Denison, 01745 852918, hildenison@ukonline.co.uk ) Concert with singer Rhys Meirion to celebrate the achievements of Welsh tenor David Lloyd at Licswm on 5 September (contact: Dr Goronwy Wynne, 01352 780689) Establishment of temporary artists’ studios at Rhosesmor and Trelawnyd over three weekends 11-27 September as part of the Helfa Gelf “open studios” event ( contact: Gwenno Jones, Flintshire County Council, 01352 702471, gwenno.e.jones@flintshire.gov.uk ) |
