The Great Orme Tramway like the one in San Francisco the Great Orme Tramway is one of only three cable driven tramways in the world. You will not get a view of prison island from this one, but the views of Llandudno Bay and Conwy Castle are just as good. It opened on July 31st 1902. An engineering marvel of its age, it's still the only cable-hauled tramway still operating on British public roads. At the Halfway Station exhibition, discover the fascinating funicular tramway - then enjoy the spectacular ride to the top. Lovingly restored - Re-live the experience of travel more than 100 years ago in the original tramcars - each named after a Saint. The whole tramway has been lovingly restored, ready for another century of service.
