Sales Agent - South Wales

We have increased the range of our pictures of South Wales, and now have a need of a sales agent who wants to take on and develop this area. The area covered would be all to the south of Aberystwyth. We have previously had a couple of friends who were part time agents and currently Ali (my wife) covers the South Wales round, but all have done this from a base in North Wales – we have come to realize that the only sustainable way forward is for an agent to be based in the southern area. The agent would be supplying shops with my cards, postcards and calendars. This job is done in North Wales by my friend Maurice Wilkinson. He has also developed his own business with Ordnance Survey maps, guide books, batteries and film. The South Wales agent would also have supply of these items, meaning they will have a wide range of products that can be supplied to each outlet. We currently have around 100 live outlets in the South Wales area that we would hand over to the agent, some of large size (such as WH Smith Cardiff, the Brecon Beacons National Park, the National Trust), others pretty small. But we have not yet tried much of South Wales, so there is plenty of room for expansion. I would say that currently there are enough outlets for 1-2 weeks per month of work, but it should be quite possible for the agent to build the area into a full time job within a short period of time. Maurice makes a solid living doing the agent’s job in North Wales, and as South Wales has a higher population, it should be feasible to do the same in this area. We are definitely not looking for a ‘slick’ salesperson – no sales experience is really necessary. What is needed is an honest, friendly and reliable person, who enjoys meeting people. Most of the shops will be visited monthly and the agent and shopkeepers will get to know each other well – it is important that a trust is built up between them. It is also important to us that the person who takes it on sees it as a medium or long term post. The position would be a self-employed post. An above the norm commission is paid on sales. Myself and Maurice work together as friends as well as business partners, and we wish to have someone join us who will enjoy that framework. It is in both our interests that whoever joins us succeeds, and we will do our best to assist the agent in that aim. Do you know of anybody who this position might suit?
