New greetings cards

Of the 9 new greetings cards, there was one that I was strongly persuaded into against my better judgement – I will leave you to guess which one!

My personal favourite is of a postbox in a wall. This is to be found in a very quiet corner of Mid Wales. Llanfihangel y Pennant is at the head of the quiet Dysynni Valley, at the south-western edge of Cader Idris. If you have heard the story of Mary Jones and her Bible, this is the very place that she started her epic walk from. Back in 1792, this 10 year old girl had such a desire to get hold of a Bible of her own that first she had her father build her a wooden box to save her money in, then when that was done she walked an epic journey over the mountains to Bala to try to get hold of one of the new Welsh translations of the Bible. Her story has been an inspiration to many.

Nearby, on a hilltop, is Castell y Bere. This was built by Llewelyn the Great early in the 13th Century. It’s a great viewpoint. A picture can be seen amongst the new postcards (P379).
